The kiddos are home for spring break this week. We're on a staycation and trying to find amusement. Yesterday the kids went to the Museum of Natural History – one of our favorite places in the city – but the line was so long to enter, they aborted the mission and went instead to the library.
This morning we had an egg Tattly party! We hard boiled eggs and once cooled, tattooed them with LaLa Lunchbox Monster Tattly tattoos.
First of all, it's really hard to find organic white eggs. Why? I have no idea. Pete and Gerry's, whose brown organic eggs I buy frequently, now sell Heirloom Eggs and the shells are beautiful shades of light blueish and off white. They seemed perfect for our LaLa Lunchbox Tattly. They are not certified organic but a few minutes of quick searching led me here, where I found that the Ameraucana Hens who lay these Heirloom eggs are never given hormones or antibiotics and they are never caged. Reminds me of our lovely experience at Kinderhook Farm last summer.
This morning, we tattooed our Heirloom eggs with LaLa Lunchbox Tattly, packed our lunchboxes and will soon be off on today's adventure.
Update: we devoured the eggs before even leaving the house! These are delicious!
